Bulle Shah was a Mughal-era Punjabi Islamic philosopher and Sufi poet. Staying awake and praying at night The dogs are also awake, superior to you They never stop barking And go and sleep on a pile of rubbish, superior to you They never leave their master’s door Even when beaten with shoes, superior to you Bulleh Shah! You had better achieve something! Or the dogs will win this contest, superior to you” -Bulleh Shah

Albert Einstein Oil Painting

Image
Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. He is best known to the general public for his mass-energy equivalence formula E = mc2, which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation". He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect", a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory.

Oil Painting of Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore ] was an Indian polymath – poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter. He was a fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse" of Gitanjali, he became in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. My Oil Oil Painting of Osho

Image
As I take a re-look at my old painting I am amazed and feel lost in wonder about how it all began twenty years ago. Yes, I was a young college student just beginning to paint portraits, and I was struggling to put the idea and the paint together with my wavering hand. The starting problems were numerous, and I did not know where to begin. In those days Osho was a cult figure for young westerners and Indians. He was worshiped and followed by millions, and his face was visible everywhere in India. The railway stations, magazines, posters, and memorabilia of all kinds made Osho the god of the masses. I was fascinated too, I wanted to capture the flowing thick beard of the godman, it was not easy. Then I ventured into the unknown and made a few strokes with my wavering brush. It worked and the picture reminds me of the first step that I took, and the risk was worth taking.

A tribute to Dr. Prerit Thomas Jacob Oil Painting

Credibility and realism are qualities that set apart an artist from others. An artist can exercise his imagination and integrity when he wields his brush as per his vision and understanding of the people and experiences around him. I would vouch for the artistic integrity of his creations and would recommend him for his work of art in paint. The proof of the pudding is in eating it. I have very intimate and first-hand experience of his creativity and artistic skills over many years. When we requested him to paint a portrait of the founder of Christian Medical College Ludhiana we were awe-struck by his creation. Today it remains as one of the precious portraits of the campus. In fact, he re-created it from an old black and white picture of the last century. A review of his painting appeared in the Tribune published from Chandigarh a few years ago. It is a very true and faithful commentary of his achievements. His gallery exhibits his natural gifts and contemporary understanding of ...

Old Oil Painting of Miss Mary Edith Brown

Image
I t was a moth-eaten black and white photograph of the mid-twentieth century placed in a corner of the college library. The legendary founder of Christian Medical College was timely revived by me, during the centenary celebrations. The young lady doctor is captured in her colorful attire and it is a fitting tribute and a thoughtful gift of the artist to many generations of medical students. Dame Edith Brown overlooks all who enter the college Chapel in her majestic colors and regal appearance. It is an indelible symbol for the medical fraternity and a beautiful memorial for the grand old lady of Punjab and a symbol of healing and health.
